To predict the Identity Styles based on attachment Styles, the researchers carried out a descriptive study of correlation kind. 130 college students from Bu-Ali Sina University were chosen randomly through multistage cluster sampling. The attachment Styles were evaluated by Hazan & shaver Adult Attachment Scale (AAS) while the Identity Styles were assessed by berzonsky Identity style inventory. The findings of this study showed that there is a significant relationship between attachment Styles and Identity Styles. The same is true between gender and Identity Styles. No significant relationship was found between gender and attachment Styles. There was a significant and positive relationship between secure attachment style and informative Identity style. In addition, a significant and negative relationship was found between secure attachment style and normative Identity. The same is true for secure attachment style and normative Identity style, and between secure attachment style and diffusion/ avoidant Identity style. It is worth mentioning that secure attachment style has the potentiality to predict informative Identity style. These findings highlight the basic and dynamic role of child-mother’s first affective bonds quality in formation, settlement and continuation of fundamental trust, affiliation, exploration, experience training, power of problem solving, and especially Identity.

Formation of Identity entails the integration of skills, world view and identification which emerges as a relatively cohesive, unique and differentiated whole. An integrated explanatory self which identifies the individual’s thought and behavior and can be regarded as the underlying arena for psychological distress. The research purpose was to investigate the relationship between Identity Styles and psychological distress. Therefore, in a descriptive-correlative study, 3245 college students (1703 male students and 1534 female students) were tested with regard to the Identity Styles and psychological distress. The correlation results of the scores indicated that information-oriented style, normative style and Identity commitment are significantly negatively correlated to psychological distress; however, diffuse avoidant style was significantly, positively correlated to psychological distress. It seems that, individuals who adopt diffuse-avoidant style delay decision-making on their Identity and gradually these maladaptive and avoidant strategies give rise to distress.

The present study tries to answer the question whether Identity Styles can predict religious self-regulation Styles? 346 pre-university students (aged 18 to 21) from Zahidan were selected for this study through cluster sampling. A questionnaire on religious self-regulation (SRQ-R) and a questionnaire on Identity style inventory (ISI-6G) were used in this research. Pearson Correlation test and stepwise regression were used to analyze the data. The research findings indicate that normative Identity and confusion/avoidant Identity Styles can predict the introjected religious self-regulation Identity. Also, normative Identity and information Identity can predict self acceptance and religious self-regulation style.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relation between ego Identity Styles, self-assertiveness, and coping Styles of female pre-university students in Tehran. Three hundred and twenty seven participants completed Berzonsky's Identity Style Inventory (1990), Andler and Parker's Coping Inventory (1990), and Gambrill and Richy's Assertiveness Inventory (1975).Results showed that students who had the informational and normative Identity Styles used problem-solving style and those with diffuse/avoidance Identity style used avoidance as a style in coping. Results also indicated that the informational Identity style had a correlation of 0.25 with basic assertiveness, a correlation of 0.11 with oppositional assertiveness. Diffuse/avoidance Identity style had a negative relation (-0.15) with basic assertiveness, but did not have any correlation with oppositional assertiveness score. No relationship was found between normative Identity style and assertiveness.

Sexual satisfaction is one of the most important issues in marital singular that can affect its survival. The purpose of this study is to predict and examine sexual satisfaction by psychological concepts such as attachment Styles, Identity Styles and Sternberg love triangle. The research method is correlational with the help of Stepwise regression analysis. The study population is all married people in Tehran who have been married for five years, of which 416 are the sample of this study. To collect information sexual satisfaction questionnaires (Kermani, 2007),Adult Attachment Styles (ASQ_15), (Hazen & Shaver, 1987),Identity Styles (ISI-6G), (Berzonsky, 1992) and Love Triangle (STLS), (Sternberg, 1989) were used. SPSS software was used for data analysis. The results of this study in accordance with previous findings showed that attachment Styles, Identity Styles and love triangles in married people have a significant relationship with sexual satisfaction, respectively 25%, 19% and 28% with satisfaction, respectively. Sex was a common variance. As a result, using this to raise awareness can help significantly in marriage and divorce counseling.

The prupose of present study was comparison of Identity Styles and types of Identity in girl and boy students. In a descriptivecomparative study, 200 first year students (100 girls and 100 boys) from University of Tabriz selected andomly Using cluster sampling and then responded to Identity Styles questionnaire and Adams Identity Status questionnaire. Results were analyzed.Through Multivariate Analysis of variance (MANOVA). Results indicated there was significant different between girls and boys in informative (P<0.01) diffuse (P<0.01), moratorium (P<0.05), early formed (P<0.01), and confused (P<0.01) Identity Styles.

The problem of personal Identity among others may stem from the following question—what does be the person that you are, from one day to the next, necessarily consist of? The diachronic problem of personal Identity raises question on the necessary and sufficient conditions for the Identity of the person over time. The synchronic problem is grounded in the question of what features or traits characterize a given person at one time. To answer these questions, John Locke discarded the soul and the body as necessary and sufficient substances for personal Identity over time. He accepted consciousness as the only criterion for personal Identity; the only thing capable of remaining the same and preserving personal Identity through change. Though Locke’s argument is somewhat clear and coherent but what remains vague and incoherent is embedded in the question—what exactly is consciousness? How and why should it be the basis or criterion for the determination of personal Identity? Using the method of critical analysis, I argue that Locke’s choice of consciousness as the determinant of personal Identity, though quite novel, is incoherent and vague. Secondly, Locke had already presumed and anticipated clearly though fallaciously the very thing he wishes to substantiate. I therefore conclude that Locke’s argument is just another way of trying to escape but inadvertently prolonging the difficulty of apparently articulating a distinction between the psychological approach and physiological approach to the problem of personal Identity. However, in my submission, I propose the concept of the “other” as alternative approach— a sort of an extrinsic-intrinsic approach to the problem of personal Identity.
